Achaval Ferrer Quimera 2011
Achaval Ferrer Quimera 2011 is the flagship red blend from Achaval Ferrer, one of Mendoza, Argentina's most prestigious and critically acclaimed wineries. Quimera (Spanish for 'chimera') is a Malbec-dominant blend that draws from Achaval Ferrer's finest old-vine vineyard parcels across Mendoza's iconic subregions — Luján de Cuyo and the Uco Valley — harmonizing variety and terroir to create a wine of extraordinary complexity and depth.
The 2011 vintage has matured beautifully, presenting a deep garnet color with evolved brick-red edges. The nose is complex and seductive: dried cassis, wild berry, leather, tobacco, dried violet, and dark chocolate, with a mineral, earthy character that speaks of Mendoza's ancient soils. On the palate, the tannins are silky and well-integrated, the fruit concentrated and refined, the finish long and resonant — a Mendoza blend drinking at its peak.
Perfect with Argentinian asado, braised lamb, duck confit, or aged hard cheese. A collector's Mendoza experience.
