Description
Women’s History Month Feature: As one of only a handful of female Master blenders in the world, Master Blender Dr. Rachel Barrie is creating some of the world's finest Single Malt Scotch whiskies.
Glenglassaugh Revival has been matured in a balanced mix of red wine European oak casks and fresh bourbon casks, vatted and re-racked for double maturation in rich sherry casks. This scotch whisky is non-chill filtered, natural colour and bottled at 46%. Robust in style, sweet and fruity whilst rounded and creamy with perfect balancing sherry notes and a slight hint of sea air.
Glenglassaugh is the only distillery to straddle the Highland/Speyside border, with a coastal position, resulting in taste influence from three locations the whisky matures in our beachside warehouses exposed to the north sea air, which lends it intriguing salty notes and makes some of the world's best scotch.
Despite being mothballed for over twenty years, the distillery has a history of proven maturation, with award-winning old vintages dating back to the 1960s, and an award-winning range of boutique younger whiskies, released in the years following the distillery’s reopening in 2008.
Traditional copper pot stills have been used at the Glenglassaugh distillery since 1875. The malt whisky is distilled twice; once through the ‘wash stills’ and then the ‘spirits stills’. The stills are very wide with a low fill height giving a very gentle run due to a larger surface area and allowing for a more controlled heating process which provides a sweeter spirit.
