SJ Montigny Kreuznacher Mönchhberg Riesling Spätlese is a classic off-dry German Riesling from the Nahe wine region — one of Germany's most underappreciated and compelling wine appellations, situated along the Nahe River between the Mosel and Rheinhessen. Kreuznach is the most important wine town in the Nahe, and the Mönchhberg (Monk's Hill) vineyard site is one of its most prized. This Spätlese (late harvest) Riesling benefits from the Nahe's diverse volcanic and slate soils to produce a wine of distinctive mineral character and aromatic complexity. Pale gold in color with a vibrant nose of ripe peach, apricot, honey, citrus, and a characteristic stony mineral backbone. On the palate, it is gently off-dry and medium-bodied with excellent balancing acidity and a long, mineral, fruit-inflected finish.
